Die Grundrechte Freiheit und Eigentum sind untrennbar miteinander verbunden. Dies unterstrich Haus & Grund-Präsident Kai Warnecke in seiner Rede beim diesjährigen Verbandstag in Lübeck. „Wenn von vielen Parteien für die bevorstehende Europawahl die Freiheit in den Mittelpunkt gerückt wird, dann stärkt das ebenso das Grundrecht auf Eigentum. Das sind gute Nachrichten für die privaten Eigentümerinnen und Eigentümer und für die Demokratie. Es kann kein Eigentum ohne Freiheit und keine Freiheit ohne Eigentum geben“, sagte Warnecke.

Er hob den gesellschaftspolitischen Wert des Eigentums sowie der Eigentümerinnen und Eigentümer hervor. Sie übernähmen Verantwortung für ihr Eigentum, als Vermieter für ihre Mieter und deren Zuhause sowie für ihre Nachbarschaft und Gemeinde. Er forderte die Politik auf, dieses Engagement durch Einbeziehung in politische Entscheidungen vor Ort und durch bürokratische sowie finanzielle Entlastungen zu fördern.

Der Ministerpräsident des Landes Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, war Gast bei Haus & Grund. Warnecke lobte Günther dafür, dass Schleswig-Holstein als bisher einziges Bundesland die Mietpreisbremse abgeschafft habe. In einem kontroversen Gespräch mit Warnecke und Vizepräsident Blazek betonte der Ministerpräsident unter anderem, dass eine Pflichtversicherung gegen Elementarschäden notwendig sei. Aufgrund des Klimawandels würden sich Extremwetterereignisse zukünftig häufen würden. Hier könne nicht dauerhaft der Steuerzahler einspringen. Günther gratulierte zudem Verein Haus & Grund Lübeck zum 125-jährigen Bestehen.
